Awards Ceremony Photography in Washington DC and the DMV
---
An awards ceremony in Washington DC or the DMV is a list of names on a clock. The frame that gets used is the honoree, the presenter, and the award, taken before they leave the stage. A ballroom wide does not replace it.
Event Photojournalism covers honors nights across the District, Maryland, and Northern Virginia: association awards, nonprofit galas, and the awards block inside a conference.
Where these nights happen
Downtown DC hotels (Marriott Marquis, Mayflower, Willard, Conrad, Waldorf Astoria), Mellon Auditorium, museum receptions, Bethesda and Baltimore galas, National Harbor ballrooms, and Northern Virginia association dinners. Name the room. A hotel stage wash and a historic-house dinner are not the same setup.
What to send
- Award order, not only the printed program
- Pronunciations if the list is long
- Whether a step-and-repeat runs during remarks
- Who must be in a formal group before dinner
Staffing
One photographer for a single stage and the dinner that follows. Two when the backdrop and the podium are both live, or the night splits between a hotel and a second site.
