HQO Events is the event program inside DC Water’s headquarters on the Anacostia River. The glass building at 1385 Canal Street SE sits in Navy Yard, across from Nationals Park, with a river patio, a wrapping lobby, conference rooms, and a rooftop that looks both toward the water and back at the neighborhood. The assignment is not to photograph a building. It is to document a meeting or reception that happens to have glass, daylight, and a weather variable.

### The Rooms That Matter
**Rooftop**
About 7,900 square feet. Receptions of up to 300, or a seated meal closer to 150. This is the space people book the venue for. It also needs a backup plan.
**Patio**
River-level outdoor room for cocktails, informal dinners, and ceremony overflow.
**Lobby and rotunda**
The first impression and, often, the indoor program space. Useful for short remarks and receptions of about 200.
**Atrium**
A flexible floor for receptions, buffets, and meetings, with breakouts when the day is a conference.
**Boardroom**
The room for a seated meeting or a smaller dinner with a water view.
Most strong HQO galleries use more than one of these.
